Alien Documentation, 2022

“Alien Documentation” is a large-scale woven replica of my U.S. visa, created on a jacquard loom and installed atop cement bricks. A document that was never renewed has been brought back to life through weaving, transforming an expired form into something tactile and enduring. It draped over cement bricks, with projected videos of places I call home, evoking movement, memory, and distance. The installation reflects the weight of borders, the fragility of belonging, and how official documents become part of an immigrant’s embodied experience.
