This performance was a continuation of “The Wind in My Hair” program, curated by Katayoun Bahrami in Clarion Alley, San Francisco, and presented in collaboration with Mobina Nouris work at the Legion of Honor Museum for the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, showing solidarity with the brave women of Iran.

Chopped hair and discarded hijabs became global symbols of women’s liberation following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. At Clarion Alley, Mobina Nouri performed a piece in which she wore a red dress with scissors attached and stood with long strands of her hair tied to a gate, each strand displaying the photo and name of an imprisoned protester. She invited participants to cut her hair and take the images as somber reminders of these individuals’ fates. Two musicians performed a duet titled “Voices of Iran.”
